Windham Soccer 5/18 Update

Good morning Soccer Families ... welcome to the continuing saga we know as 2020 ...

The day has finally come, and it is with a heavy heart that I announce that there will officially be no spring season of soccer this year.  We have already canceled all spring clinics and skills and drills sessions, and recently announced the cancelation of all of the Inter-town RECREATION league games.

Recently, the NHSA has announced that they are officially canceling the spring 2020 TRAVEL season - with the governor's directives in effect until the end of May at a minimum, there was just no clear path forward for the league right now to effectively put together a spring season.

What does that mean for us ... for Windham Soccer?

For All Rec programs, including our skills and drills, clinics, and Inter-town rec teams, a REFUND is in process and are either completed or will be completed shortly.

For TRAVEL  PLAYERS, please note the following:

For our SENIOR BOYS and GIRLS SPRING ONLY TEAMS: you will be receiving a REFUND of your spring fees

For our SOUTH CENTRAL 2005 Players ONLY: you will receive a REFUND for 1/2 of your 2019-2020 season fees

For ALL OTHER TRAVEL PLAYERS (both Windham Travel and South Central): you will receive a CREDIT of 1/2 of the 2019-2020 season that will be applied to your account when you register for the 2020-2021 season.  More about the registration and team formation for the 2020-2021 season will be forthcoming over the next 4 to 6 weeks, as we head into summer.

Refunds will take some time to process, and credits should appear on your accounts by the time registration opens.

Please note: if you do NOT plan to continue with the program and will not be registering for next season, please reach out to Chris Burke, VP of Travel, to discuss.  Additionally, should any family be suffering a financial hardship at this difficult time but you do plan to continue, please reach out to either Chris Burke or Jamie Manti, President of Windham Soccer, to discuss what options may be available to you and your family.  These discussions will be handled on a case by case basis in confidence.

Lastly, a few people have asked about summer camps, and at this time we do not have any news to share.  As we receive word and updates based from the organizations that run the camps for WSA, as well as the town and the governor, we will provide updates to you.

This has been a difficult year for all of us ... to those that have been afflicted or have suffered a loss, our hearts go out to you and your families.  To those that have been impacted financially or have lost their jobs, please know that brighter days are ahead.  To our heroes ... our medical professionals, our first responders, our grocery and restaurant employees, our truck drivers and other essential workers ... know that you have our gratitude for what you do.

The safety of our soccer players and our Windham Soccer Family is the most important thing for us, on or off the pitch.  Since we can't be on the pitch, we hope that you have been able to take advantage of the training videos that our trainers have posted, of some of the fun things that have gone up on our Facebook and Instagram accounts, and have encouraged your players to keep training and getting touches on the ball.  Soon enough, we will all be back together doing what we love!

Until then ... stay safe ... stay strong ...

Your friends at WSA

WSA Update 05/04/2020

May the Fourth be With You!

Sorry - had to do it!

We hope that you and yours are still safe and well in what truly is a historic time in our lives.

As you know, ALL Town Fields remain closed, as do ALL School fields with the extension of remote learning through the end of the year and the cancelation of the Spring 2020 NHIAA sports season.

New Hampshire Soccer Association (NHSA) has updated their guidance and NO sanctioned activities will take place prior to May 31st, with the earliest organized activities not scheduled to occur until at least June 1st - including games, practices, clinics, training, tournaments, and in-person meetings.  As mentioned previously, the June 6th Day at the Revs event will be postponed, and no new date has been set.

We will continue to keep you informed with new updates as they are made available.

Many of you have been asking about partial refunds for the winter sessions, for the spring clinics that did not happen, and what is going to happen with regard to any travel and inter-town rec activities for the rest of spring.  Here is what we can tell you:

1) Partial refunds for the CANCELED WINTER SESSIONS as well as refunds for the CANCELED SPRING REC CLINICS are in process ... there has been a number of delays related to the processor that we have had to endure, but most have been completed.  There are a few folks that will be receiving checks (and, yes, surpisingly enough, we had to order MORE checks too!) and a few folks that we may have to reach out to as some of the refunds went out at the wrong amount ... because ... of course they did!  If you did not get your refund yet, please be patient - we are working through everyone as fast as possible

2) the SPRING INTER-TOWN REC SEASON has not been canceled yet.  At this point, we are not expecting there to be a season, we are waiting to confirm with the other towns before formally canceling and issuing refunds for the spring fees.  Again, please be patient as we work through this.

3) the SPRING TRAVEL SEASON has not been canceled and NHSA/NHSL has continued to express their intentions of trying to hold some form of spring travel season with a modified game schedule, potentially no playoffs, etc.  Once we hear more, again, we will communicate this to you and advise how we are able to proceed.  A lot of this will depend on the Governor's continued directions, as well as other factors such as field availability and so on.

4) we do not have any further information at this time on Summer Camps which are also wait-and-see as most of you are aware

We thank you for your continued patience as we all try to navigate the unchartered waters here ... believe us, we would much rather be dealing with a rained out reschedule than whether our season will even take place.  In the meantime, please encourage your players to get out in the yard when their schoolwork is done, and get some touches in on the ball!  Dribble around the yard, take shots against a net, practice passing with their brother or sister ... heck, maybe the dock can help them work on their defending skills!  We will continue to try and post training videos to our Facebook page to help players of all ages during our time apart.  Don't forget about our NEW Private Instagram Page exclusively for members of Windham Soccer!!  Be sure to reach out to us on Instagram and try and let the moderator know what team you are on!

Once again, from all of us at Windham Soccer, we continue to think of all of our players, and you, their families.  Your health and safety is our number on priority ... if we can overcome this challenge, we will be together again on the pitch soon enough.  Our thanks once again goes out to all of the healthcare professionals, police, fire, and emergency response workers, the grocery store employees, gas station attendants, restaurant employees, town employees, and all those that are risking their own health to provide us the essentials that allow us to continue to live our daily lives.

Be safe ... and, soon enough you will hear us say ... we will see you on the pitch!
