Update on Scheduled Events from Windham Soccer

Good morning everyone

Obviously, this is not the way any of us expected to be preparing for the upcoming spring season!  We have been monitoring all of the news and updates pertaining to recent events regarding COVID-19 and, more specifically, the impact it is having on our local area.

In light of the recent news from the SAU regarding our schools, from the New Hampshire Soccer Association (NHSA) regarding sanctioned events for its member organizations, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety and wellbeing of our members, our coaches, and our families, we are going to CANCEL all remaining indoor clinics and training sessions scheduled to take place between now and April 12th, 2020.   This includes all indoor sessions at the Windham Middle School, New England Sports Center (Sportszone) in Derry, and the Phanzone in Hampstead.  Windham Soccer Association will be working to issues partial refunds to those families that were signed up for these sessions.  Please note: we ask that you do not email us regarding the refund.  We have a list of those that are registered, and will need some time to allow us to process everything through our system.

Windham Soccer will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and will provided further guidance and direction regarding the upcoming spring season.  We are all hoping that this unfortunate situation will not impact the start of our regular spring season, but only time will tell.

The CDC has noted that "...COVID-19 is mainly spread through respiratory droplets (sneeze, cough, or sweat) when in close contact (within 6 feet) OR by touching a surface with such droplets and then touching one's own mouth, nose or eyes..."

With this in mind, we urge you to take precaustions to protect you, your family, and your neighbors, to include:

·     Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

·     Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth prior to proper washing or disinfecting.

·     Staying home when you are sick.

·     Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

·     Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

·     Following the CDC's recommendations for using a face mask (they do not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask, but does recommended face masks be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease)

·     Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

                 ·     If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

To help you stay informed about COVID-19, we have included the following links to valuable information:

NH Department of Health and Human Services

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

World Health Organization

Like you, our members, we too are families of soccer players, soccer moms, soccer dads, and soccer fans ... we are disheartened at the unfortunate situation that is unfolding around us and the impact that it is having on our society.  It is with your health and safety in mind that we take these unprecedented actions.

Be safe ... and, soon enough ... we will see you on the pitch!

Your friends at Windham Soccer Assocation

UPDATE: All Town Fields, Courts, Playgrounds are Closed

An update from the Town of Windham:

Effective 3/24/2020

The Board of Selectmen has voted to close the Basketball Courts at Griffin Park and at the Nashua Road Fields; as well as the Playgrounds at Griffin Park and at Windham Wonderland on Estey Rd.

These actions were taken by the Board at their meeting on March 23, 2020, due to concerns with the COVID-19 crisis.

All Town Fields remain closed at this time as well.

As was previously noted,  despite the increasingly nice weather (recent snow aside) the town fields are CLOSED.  They are still very mushy in many areas, have not been prepped, and using them in this condition may result in damage that could further delay the start of the season once restrictions are lifted.

We were asked by the Town to ensure that we refrain from using the fields until such time as they have opened them for the spring season.

We ask for your continued support to help maintain EVERYONE's health and safety in light of these unprecendented times.   As the situation evolves, we will be sure to keep you updated.

Thank you again for your cooperation ... please be safe!
